The current Nissan Murano bombarded itself onto my all time favorite list with its convertible version earlier this year, so I was wondering how the “normal” Murano would stack up in comparison. I was pleasantly surprised.

In comparison to its competitors, the Murano impresses with an above par fit and finish, with a solid feel of the materials, and with a nice balance throughout the design. It is harmonious without being boring, interesting without being overladen with different design ideas.

[singlepic id=12125 w=640 h=480 float=center]The Murano is not a hybrid, so in comparison to the Lexus RX450h we recently drove, it certainly uses more fuel, with an average during our use of 18.3 mpg. Not exactly bewildering, but better than others in its category.

The exterior design makes the car look very modern, with interesting treatment on front and rear fenders, without being refrigerator design like the Nissan Cube. It presents a friendly and unique DRG, in contrast to some SUV competitors, and remains compact on the outside despite its obvious space inside.

The interior, as said, seems above par from most in that segment, almost Lexus like, with an excellent combination of colors and materials, combined with again perfect fit and finish. It offers plenty of space for my daughter and her posse, which is quite remarkable in itself.
