The latest generation of the Mazda6 featured its new design language. Gone is the design language initiated by Laurens van den Acker, and voila, here is the new language. It clearly relates heavily to what was shown on the concept car some 2 years ago, of course, featuring smooth feature lines and surfaces, and none of the beachy waves introduced on the Mazda5.However, the production version is clearly a face lift of the previous generation Mazda6, a good car in itself, but one that was already showing its signs of the the changing times. This new Mazda6  does provide a nice new refreshing costume for the inner sheet metal, but it does show that it is a mere facelift.

Of course, doing a completely new car every 3 years is near impossible financially, but I have to admit that the times do seem to have change more than the exterior face lift of this Mazda6 wants to have true. It is fresh, for the Mazda6, but it is not as convincing when compared to what other manufacturers have been putting on the market.

Especially Hyundai and Kia are far beyond the Mazda6, with cars that are at the end of their life cycles, and will soon be replaced. To me, that would worry me like crazy if I were Mazda.
